Community Development Salvador Metropolitana (Brazil)
Community Development Salvador Metropolitana brings together nine community-based initiatives supporting children, youth, women, elderly people, and vulnerable communities in Salvador and its metropolitan region.
The project combines education, sport, entrepreneurship, cultural identity, social protection, and care for the elderly into one wider programme. Its activities include sports and life-skills training for children and adolescents, employability support for young people, entrepreneurship training for women and elderly producers, and support for children and youth affected by violence.
The programme also works with elderly care institutions, helping improve the quality of care and strengthen the protection of older people’s rights. Through cooperation with local communities, schools, social services, and partner organizations, the project aims to build safer, more inclusive, and more resilient communities.
By addressing several forms of vulnerability at the same time — unemployment, violence, social exclusion, lack of opportunities, and limited access to support services — Community Development Salvador Metropolitana creates practical pathways for people to strengthen their skills, confidence, income opportunities, and sense of belonging.
