TCE Test and Treat (Zambia)
About 1.3 million people in Zambia are presently known to be living with HIV of which 65% are on treatment. In 2017 the Zambian government implemented a new policy of test and treat meaning all people found HIV positive after counselling and testing are immediately starting Anti-Retroviral Therapy.
Development Aid from People to People Zambia started a TCE Test and Treat project in Copperbelt province and Lusaka city in February 2017, in order to identify people who do not know their status and ensure they start Anti-Retroviral Therapy treatment.
With support from Humana People to People partners, the project also received funds from other partners and now it is operated only in Lusaka. During the first half of 2019, the project planned to identify 500 people living with HIV, but it managed to identify 884, which is 177% achievement.
