ADPP Teacher Training School, Caxito (Angola)
The ADPP Angola’s Teacher Training School in Caxito started in 1996 and over the years it enrolled students from Zaire, Bengo, Luanda, Malanje, Kwanza Norte, Kwanza Sul, Moxico, Kuando Kubango, Uíge, and Lunda Norte provinces.
The idea of the project is to train young Angolans to become primary school teachers and to return to teach in these same provinces.
The project reaches community members in the neighbourhood of rural schools where 3rd Year students implement micro-projects, in addition to people living in the neighbourhood of the Teacher Training School at Caxito, where 1st and 2nd Year students carry out community activities.
In January 2019, 77 new primary teachers graduated, bringing the accumulated total to 1,308 students. Hundreds of graduates are working in schools or education offices.
